Hey, Ed, I, also, really want to quit and have tried several times. Tried Chantix, made me sooooo sick, and have tried cold turkey. Guess not enough willpower. I know I have got to quit. Bad cough, sure I have chronic bronchitis with emphysema (not diagnosed), but do know the symptoms. Sounds good regarding your website, please let me know how to get there. Thanks, Dona.

I stopped smoking 10 months ago. I was smoking over 35 a day. I used two patches, a 21mg and a 7mg together and reduced from there over a period of 6 months. I also used the sublingual microtab (with the patches) when craves got too bad. This regime was all done with my Dr's consent. I have been completely nicotine free for 4 months now. The hardest part, having tried to quit on numerous occasions, was getting my head in the right space to really quit. Keep trying, You will succeed.

Cheers
Fran

Hey Ed, Dona
I am a newby but I know of just the website that will reinforce your desires to quit smoking. The site is very educational and even has a COPD section.

Good Luck!

I looked at the site and I do not find issues with it. I removed the links, because the poster seemed to be promoting it. A third post of the link will result in the posters suspension. COPD Support has plenty of material on the topic, and there is no shortage of good anti-smoking material out there.

No, I am not promoting any website. I am a Rookie, having just joined this forum yesterday, so I am still learning the ropes. In the future, in my posts, I will not place any links, regardless of how important I feel they may be to the current topic being discussed on the forum.

I am 67 years old and have smoked heavily since aged 17. The past couple months I have developed shortness of breath and a "wet cough". Last week had chest x-rays and blood work done but I have yet to be told the results....perhaps today. During the tests the oxygen level in my blood was 94%. The nurse said 97% would have been closer to normal for most people.

I have "quit" smoking perhaps a dozen times over the years, both with quit-smoking aids and without. Today is the first day of my latest cold-turkey attempt.

It is my understanding that the progression of emphysema can be slowed by not smoking. But whether I smoke or not, it will kill me eventually.

The only reason I joined this forum yesterday was to seek and give solace and advice to/from folks stricken with nicotine addiction and to/from folks suffering from the results of same.

Links are OK on a selective basis. Posting the site once, and I gave it a pass. Posting it twice in two responses, and I did not. There are a lot of links we do allow. We had problems with a nurse who was being paid by the hit who was using our site to drive traffic to her company sub site. The information was very biased on the site, and mostly written by her for a fee. So I am cautious when I see a single site posted twice. Our entire forum is indexable by Google and Yahoo, so we do not want to be used by someone else to get index rankings.
