The weed is probably your biggest problem shady. If you have COPD a lung age of 71 would probably mean it is still mild so if you stop smoking now you can save yourself from the worst as you grow older. The weed has more than likely affected your brain and if you continue to use the crap it will probably put you in the funny farm.

Going into rehab is a very courageous thing to do. How long will you be there, do you know?
11 days!!!! Way to go.

I went through 2 Pulmonary Rehab programs. The first I also went to years of maintenance. The second was through the Veterans Administration. They had a space problem and I dropped out after completing the program. I belong to a gym, and need to start using it again, but as weather gets nicer, I try to bike 10-20 miles a day.

Since you like keeping track of your non smoking progress try www.quitmeter.com It will give you a day to day, minute to minute progress as well as tell you how many cigarettes you didn't smoke and how much money you saved. It really was a motivator for me and many other people I have recommended it to.

The extreme temperatures are difficult for us. I have more trouble in the summer months with breathing than the cold. But, it isn't too extremely cold for me.
I believe that high humidity is the worst.
If you are sweating a lot, maybe you have an infection brewing.
Do you know what your O2 sats are most of the time?
What inhalers are you using again? Names?
Keep trying to find help with your addiction as it is imperative that you quit putting all smoke into your lungs.
You really need to dig deep and do it.

on salbutamol blue n mauve inhalers dont really help much tho as it dont make any difference to the abdominal distention, heat here in london is very humid n clammy being a city full of buildings they store alot of heat n not much in the way of breeze the sweatings happened all the while since the distention all them years ago cause i can hardly draw breathes in n out tend to get whacked out quick n most things feel like major tasks.know better then most i need to quit both things n really fighting to not smoke cigs, weed i smoke cause where i live isnt very private or peaceful n i sleep alot when home seems to be the only time i get away from my breathing but sound proofings poor n sometimes just dont have the energy to keep up with all the thumping basslines from nieghbours hifi's n crashing n banging above thing is wouldnt feel like that if i could breath.

Have you tried earplugs to drown out the noise? If home is the only place you feel good, you should try to make it as peaceful as possible.

Applause for quitting cigarettes.

They can see a good representation in 3 D of the changes to the lungs and find where there are problem areas and what the changes are.

so will they be able to tell whats wrong with me from just the ct scan ie the abdominal distention n irregular breathing patterns or are there more tests involved

They MAY be able to see what is causing the abdominal distention IF they are doing a ctscan of your thoracic AND abdominal area. And there may be more tests involved because either they didn't see anything or because they want to verify what they saw.

I can understand the "no name" bit. Once they put a name on it, you can research it, treat it, cure it, or whatever. Until then, though, "it's" just there.

Well, if you don't smoke, put in "0". Remember, you're a non-smoker now.

expect both the abdominal distention n breathing difficulties ive had since the age of 26 are due to my smoking habits over the last 30 or so years n now would give anything to go back to my 1st spliff or cigarette and not light either, wish i listened to those who knew better but at 12 or 13 you think you have all the answers.

We have all had the "guilts" about what we did to ourselves Shady. It just is something you have to let go of. You only have power over what you are doing today. Yesterday is yesterday and it is over. Forgive yourself for that and do what you have to do today. Stop putting any smoke in your lungs and system. I agree with Halibut about how the pot makes you paranoid and stuff. It is not a natural thing you are smoking as they do put extra chemicals in the stuff today. It is killing you. We all have to come to the big question with this disease and smoking, "DO I WANT TO LIVE OR DIE?" CHOOSE TO LIVE AND BREATHE AIR, NOT SMOKE. IT IS IN YOUR POWER TO DO SO. BE STRONG AND CHOOSE LIFE.

moved where i am now kinda impromptly and under false pretences and tho ive been here half a year dont feel settled or secure due to the area alot of gangs n constant thudding basslines, know the weed makes you paro but so does not being able to breath n having major discomfort from abdominal distention for 17 constant years.find it nigh impossible to relax restless n cant sleep deeply my abdomen feels like n over stretched balloon n inhaling n exhaling are n effort to say the least, being numb from weeds not n excuse but im taking steps n have help to move me outta here and into somewhere more safe then where im at now n do feel that when that happens getting off the weed will be alot easier for me.
