Having some major dental work done, 6 crowns, no root canals, thank God. I was hoping to be able to get some implants in the near future, but I'm too scared to do it now.

Anyone had implants done? Any problems with the COPD?

Geez, I'm afraid of everything now.

I am planning to start next month. I am waiting until I am on antibiotics. I am in a clinical trial and that is part of the reason for the delay.

I have talked to my doctor and she is fine with it. It takes about a year from beginning to end.

They do have some new implants that are what they call immediate. Penny seems to know about them and I see them advertised. Everything in one day but only a couple clinics do it here. Implants like Dave is talking about are very expensive. If I were in my 60's I might consider it but at 75 I have no intentions of putting out the amount of money required. Close to $15,000 for just the uppers. A denture works just fine for me. You have to have very good bone (which I have) for them to work, too.

Implants are done with local anesthesia, so there is no problem with COPD. I just had two done myself. Much better than dentures or bridges.
