I had a quad bypass done back in '99 @ 50 years old. The good, besides saving my life, was I didn't have time to think about it. I stumbled into an ER one afternoon and woke up two days later in a hospital 100 miles away with a nurse pulling tubes out of my chest. It was painful, but they managed my pain well during my initial recovery. I couldn't do much for the first couple of weeks except hug my heart pillow when I moved or coughed... but steadily improved, went thru rehab and it probably took a good two months before I was feeling back to normal. So, that was 20 years ago. I'm sure things have changed a bit since then but if you have any specific questions I'll do my best to answer them. Hopefully you will get a response from someone that has had it done more recently. I wasn't diagnosed with COPD until 2011... |
