My Mom has severe panic attacks and is really struggling. She does not have Insurance and has been turned down for disability once. The Dr do believe she is in the end stage of COPD. She is 58. I was wondering what others do to help with Panic Attacks? and Insurance issues. I am so lost and I don't know what way to turn. We lost my brother almost 3 years ago at 37. This has really taken a toll on her as well. Any advice?

The Dr. believed I was in the end stage 32 years ago so I don't think that means a whole lot. Does she panic from not being able to breathe?? If so, pursed lip breathing could help. Inhale to the count of 2 or more if she can, purse lips like she is cooling a spoon of soup and exhale 2 times longer than the inhale. Do this over and over and it will help her breathe and also has a calming effect. As for the insurance, just go to the ER at a major hospital and they are obligated to help her if she is bad enough. Use your search engine to try and find an agency that helps people without insurance.

Thank you! I think it is the breathing and she stresses on things she has to get done. She also is a caregiver(against what I think) to her Mom. she does use the ER and they are usually crappy to her. We went a couple weeks ago because she was in so much pain(pluresy) they were so snobby and gave her some Motrin and sent her home. They wont address somethings. She needs to be on oxygen I am sure also!!

She is trying to get some assistance from Hospital soon. The main issue has also been her meds are very exspensive. She is on Dulera, Ventolin Albuterol and something she uses in nebulizer. It all scares me so much. She is had a very hard time lately and the passing out worries me too death.
