My husband wants to go to a flea market with his friend who just got shingles. He got medication yesterday on his travel down here. My husband never had chickenpox. I#65039; am on 02. I#65039; say itís risky and too soon. He says as long as itís covered itís ok. I#65039; say with my condition also I#65039; have to be careful of bringing things in to me also

I agree with you. The medication takes time, and it is for symptoms, not the underlying virus.

I agree, shingles can be bad. I had a mild case and it was awful painful. I was told to be extra careful around people. Your immune system is already down so I wouldnít take chance.

I don't think you can get shingles if you have not had chickenpox. However, I don't think I'd take the chance. Ask your husband to take raincheck on this one...for you.

Thank you for verifying what thought...that you can't get shingles unless you've had chicken pox, Deb. What I don't understand is why you were told to get all your vaccinations before you were admitted to the hospital. I understand all the contagious diseases present in a hospital but just what vaccinations were they talking of?
