I just signed up Jan 29. I am a 78 yr old man with COPD, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes and as of late 2017 now on oxygen for sleep and all times when I am exerting myself. I have a home Invacare concentrator and Invacare tank fill but since I also travel in a motorhome, I decided to buy a portable concentrator for use on the road (and even for local use). I got an Invacare Platinum Mobile unit about a week ago and am learning the ins and outs of it. So far I am happy as I got it with two batteries (10 hour service) for about $500 less than advertised MSRP. I found that that MSRP in medical devices is pretty much what they ask for it. While Medicare covers my home equipment and tanks I had to purchase the portable unit which set me back about $2200. That really put a dent in the bank account but I did it in order to keep my locally supported oxygen needs. The portable needs to be mailed off if it has problems. So I will be trying to read and learn from these forums and hope to be able to contribute here and there. Yesterday I got great news in that my CAT Scan came back with nothing but minor problems and all else was good news - no C words in that report.

Bill, as a long time oxygen user I would recommend you also get a pulse-oximeter so you can monitor the effectiveness of your oxygen therapy. You need to ensure that it is actually keeping your blood oxygen where it should be.

Got one Tony even before I went on oxygen Am taking cardipulmonary rehab and was using oxygen there before going full time so the oximeter was valuable there too.

Welcome Bill! Glad to hear you got good ct scan results. I know how you feel each year when I am waiting for the results of my ct scan.

Great news, sounds like you are proactive with your COPD. I too bought a portable and like having it as a back up. I know as long as I have an outlet I will have 02.
