I just signed up Jan 29. I am a 78 yr old man with COPD, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes and as of late 2017 now on oxygen for sleep and all times when I am exerting myself. I have a home Invacare concentrator and Invacare tank fill but since I also travel in a motorhome, I decided to buy a portable concentrator for use on the road (and even for local use). I got an Invacare Platinum Mobile unit about a week ago and am learning the ins and outs of it. So far I am happy as I got it with two batteries (10 hour service) for about $500 less than advertised MSRP. I found that that MSRP in medical devices is pretty much what they ask for it. While Medicare covers my home equipment and tanks I had to purchase the portable unit which set me back about $2200. That really put a dent in the bank account but I did it in order to keep my locally supported oxygen needs. The portable needs to be mailed off if it has problems. So I will be trying to read and learn from these forums and hope to be able to contribute here and there. Yesterday I got great news in that my CAT Scan came back with nothing but minor problems and all else was good news - no C words in that report. Bill in Missouri
Bill, as a long time oxygen user I would recommend you also get a pulse-oximeter so you can monitor the effectiveness of your oxygen therapy. You need to ensure that it is actually keeping your blood oxygen where it should be.
